 Here are some
guidelines for those of you who may be sending the VTI web address to
others on the Internet to check out your site. Spamming is bad etiquette.
New law regulates unsolicited commercial electronic mail! Penalties can be as high as $15,000 per instance.
For more info on our Span Policy, please read on...
Spam is a term used by the Internet community to describe messages that are sent to individuals either directly or via message distribution services (Usenet news and mailing lists) where the content or properties of the message generally fall into one or more of the following categories:
- Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE). This is
a commercial message, intended for pecuniary gain, which is sent to individuals, mailing
lists, or Usenet groups.
- Message(s) that fall outside the charter of
any Usenet news group or mailing list.
- Unsolicited messages that are sent to more
than one address of any nature.
- Messages that are sent to more than 1
unsolicited mailing list.
It is against the Terms and Conditions of service to transmit content through or to Turnpike Corporation's (our service provider) servers, or use any email account to receive replies to Spam messages.
VTI, upon receiving a complaint and verifying that a message falls under the defined guidelines of Spam, can at its discretion, and is not limited to, the following remedies:
- Warn the responsible party
- Revoke the accounts of the responsible
party
- Charge the accounts of the responsible
party for each complaint, a cleaning charge of $150 U.S.
The responsible party, who uses VTI's resources, website or personalized web address for the practice of spamming, may be liable for any expenses incurred by VTI to reverse any actions taken by other services as a response to Spam, and resources consumed by the Spammer's actions. VTI also reserves the right to set in place, filters, or other mechanisms to protect the servers and network resources from Spam.
